Getting To Know Me, Getting To Know You #1

I'm going to try a little something new here. If it catches on, I will do this weekly. :)

Do you ever wonder how other quilters do things? Do you do something you think may be "odd" or different and wonder how many other people are out there like you? I know I do!

Now, I'm certainly not saying anyone is odd or weird, but we all have our quirks. ;)

I am going to start off with an easy question. Just click your answer and next Thursday I will reveal the results and my own answer to the question AND I will put up another poll.

This is going to be a chance for you to get to know me a little and a chance for me to get to know you too! I think it will be interesting to see where the majority falls with some of these questions! :D

Your votes are anonymous but feel free to comment about your vote if you'd like. *wink*wink*

**crossing my fingers this poll thing works. I've never done one of these before so here's hoping...**

Much Love!!!

  1. Gee...you should have included an option for slippers! ;-)

  2. Call me weird, but I like feeling the pedal with bare feet - pyscholigically I think I'm able to control the speed better this way?!!

  3. Bare feet all the way! I can't "drive" as well if I have shoes on. Socks are ok if it's cold inside.

  4. We don't wear our outdoor shoes in the house, so as soon as we come inside, off come the shoes and on go the slippers. So 'whatever is on my feet at the time' would be mostly slippers! Bare feet are too dangerous...I've found too many pins that way...ouch!

  5. I was just thinking about this the other day, thinking I was weird because I don't like sewing with shoes on. Sometimes I even take just the one shoe off and leave the other one on while I sew. Socks are not a problem, but shoes seem to hinder my progress. ;)

  6. We needed a slipper option. For some reason I can't seem to sew in bare feet or in my stocking feet, so need the slippers, and occasionally my shoes.

  7. I started to vote "bare feet or socks" because we also don't wear outside shoes inside, but then I realized I do a lot of my quilting at sewing class, and then I have shoes on! So it's "whatever's on at the time" for me!

  8. bare feet most of the time, socks if it's cold. So funny, this question! Just the other day I had to sew something real quick and I had shoes on and I was amazed how different it felt! Then I said out loud I don't think I usually sew with shoes on! Then i thought i was weird to like to sew barefoot. Guess I'm not the only one!

  9. We don't wear shoes in the house and I hate socks so it's almost always bare feet. At most I might put some slippers on if my feet get cold but they don't stay on for long.

  10. I really like the control of bare feet, but when it's cold on the floor I put on little ankle/tennis sox.

However, for the last few months I've switched to using my left foot for the pedal (I'm right handed) and it seems to straighten me out in front of the machine.

  11. socks!
and on occasion bare feet... never shoes!

  12. Love the idea of the poll!!!!
I do sew with some people that can't quilt with anything but socks on their feet. I also have a friend who golfs bare-footed - she is a little odd though!!!!

  13. I could have had two answers; when I piece quilts, I usually have slippers on but when I'm quilting, and I have a long arm machine, I am always wearing shoes. Really saves my back!

  14. I don't wear shoes in the house and only socks when it's cold, so I'm a barefoot person most of the time.

  15. I'm one of the bare feet or socks(if it's cold) brigade - I like to feel the pedal under my foot and I think I have better control (whether I do or not is another thing altogether!)

  16. Great idea on the polls! I don't like wearing shoes anyway, guess I get that from growing up in the country, always running around bare footed. Lol... But when its chilly out, I keep socks on to stay warm. Besides, like many others, I don't like the feel of the pedal under my foot with real shoes on.

  17. I usually wear slippers and slip the right one off when I need to use the foot pedal.
Not certain why I do this, but probably feel as though I've better control on the accelerator.
    :^)

  18. Oh, I like the poll you used! I've put one on my own blog before, but this one is a lot swankier!

  19. Very nice. The poll thingy worked. I am in with the majority. YEAH!! LOL! It is nice to try and get to know each other a little more.

  20. We are another family who never wears shoes inside the house, so it will socks or barefeet generally! Slippers if my feet are cold and it's winter.

  21. Definitely bare feet. I tried to vote, but it wouldn't let. Bummer.

  22. I wear sandals at home as a compromise - I prefer being barefoot but I need the arch and back support. I always slip off one sandal to use the foot pedal, so I'm half barefoot or in socks if it's cold. You KNOW I'm weird, though... I use the pedal upside down, pressing the little rectangular thing with my big toe instead of putting my whole foot on the flat side.

  23. I cannot use my sewing machine with shoes on at all!! I've tried and I just don't feel like I have enough control!! I've always been a barefoot kind of gal thought since I was little and wanted to be just like my Daddy who is always barefoot! :)

  24. I rock socks 90% of the time, just because my feet are cold, the other 10% I'm bare footed. Shoes feel to clunky on my pedal to me.

  25. Soooo.... Im kinda off skelter... I usually have my right foot bare or in a sock and definitely have a sock or my left BearPaw boot on the left foot... I have arthritis issued in my left ankle and it gets achey if it sits too long... and Im a "cut it all out, piece it ALL together" kinda gal. xoxoxo

  26. Yep, bare feet is the way to go! but you forgot the most important bit..... the glass of wine just before you start to quilt!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Great idea. If I come up with a question to ask I'll let you know...

  28. Mmmmm will have to try this with socks on. I am a slippers person, my feet are always cold (bad circulation) so no way could I go bare foot (well maybe in July when its hot). Will give it a go and see how I get on.

  29. I like this!! I am amazed at how many people Don't wear shoes! I thought that would be the popular choice..I HAVE to have my shoes on :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Slippers, definitely! But I have a big variety, so it's never boring in my sewing room -- LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm not odd, yay! I even take my shoes off in quilting classes. Oh, wait, maybe I am odd.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh gee, tried to vote and it told me I already voted, which I didn't :( I'm a bare feet kind of gal anyway. Can better control the speed I feel, literally!

  33. I love being in my bare feet, but with my new studio it can get a bit chilly on the toes so socks are my new best friend :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I never, ever wears shoes inside but I do wear slippers. However, I feel like quilting while wearing slippers gives me less finite control so I quilt with either bare feet or socks depending on the weather.

  35. What a fun idea! I'm a socks-kinda-gal in the winter, and either socks or bare feet in the summer.

I also agree with Helen on the glass of wine too!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. No shoes, if its warm barefoot, cold socks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like this! Barefoot or socks because I don't want shoe scum on my foot pedal!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Very clever idea. I see that I'm in a minority - lol!

  39. I voted barefeet/socks. I used to feel out of control if I sewed with shoes on. Lately shoes have been slipped into the mix too, only because I'm too lazy to untie.

  40. Barefoot, always. I have problems when taking classes because I don't feel comfortable in socks in class but it is real hard to sew with shoes on.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bare foot, with or without socks (depending on the season) (But it wouldn't let me vote said I'd already voted, which I hadn't)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Too fun! Definitely a barefoot gal here. I feel like I don't control the pedal as well when anything is on my foot. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I checked bare feet/socks. Truthfully, it is only half right! I wear slippers, but slip the right on off to sew. I have been known to run through the house with only my left slipper on when I have had to get up quickly!!

    Blessings,

    KT

  44. I've never been able to go barefoot! I must have finicky feet:) I'm pretty outnumbered here!

  45. I prefer bare feet all the time. However in winter I sometimes have to wear slippers as its way to cold to have nothing on.

  46. Yesterday it was cold - well, cold for Florida. Quilting was my priority for the day so my outfit consisted of a pair of shorts, long sleeve sweatshirt, one Ugg boot and one bare foot.

  47. I guess I just don't get it. I don't see any difference whether I have shoes, no shoes, socks, slippers, or whatever on. I just like to sew!

    ReplyDelete
  48. WOW, I don't feel so strange anymore for sewing bare footed. I have never been able to sew with shoes on. Like the others, I have to feel the petal, gives me better control. Great question.
