Tidbit Tuesday #13

I first want to say thank you to those that have emailed me tips to use here on my blog!! I will be posting each and every one of them so keep your eyes out! If you have more, keep them coming! Please. :)

Today's tip I overheard from Grey Cat over at Grey Cat Quilts when I was at our local Stitch 'N' Bitch. I have yet to try this myself, but I think its a fabulous idea, and it came in perfect timing with a request I received today. ;)

Ever have trouble with your ruler slipping while you are cutting your fabric?

Try taking rubber cement and applying it to the underside of your ruler, just in the corners. Maybe 1" squares worth, in each corner. Allow it to dry completely. This should help your ruler not to slip. Then when it stops "sticking" or it gets fuzzy, you just rub it off and re-apply! Easy Peasy!!

I'm going to get me some rubber cement this weekend and give it a go!

Thanks Grey Cat!! :D

Psst....make sure you go check out Grey Cat's blog! This woman is super creative and so much fun to hang around! Tell her I said hello! :)

Also, head on over to Julie's blog! She has an awesome giveaway going on right now!!! Here's a peek... Click HERE to enter :)

Much Love!!!

  1. Thank you! I am going to try it. Maybe go get some tomorrow.

  2. Great idea! It would take some of the stress and strain out of cutting, for sure! Thanks!

  3. OminGrid also has some clear coated stuff that you pull off and put on the back of the ruler. LOVE this stuff and you can get it at Joann's when they have 50% off makes it about $2.50 and does several rulers.

  4. GREAT idea! I mess up so much fabric because of slippage!

  5. Teehee! Thanks for the shout-out! I'm looking forward to next Stitch n' Bitch. I'm so glad you joined us, and am totally jealous of you and your finishing power (not to mention creativity and mad skills).

Speaking of... *pokes at current project* I'm gonna go work so I have something for show and tell!

  6. I use bandaids to stop slippage!!!! Not the plasticky kind but the fabric ones like elastoplast. One stuck a few places....voila no more slipping!

  7. Have you tried the rubber cement? If so, how did it go?

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really love hearing from you!! :)

Happy Quilting!
